11 years ago today, I released my first graphic novel, Mystery Science Storybook: Bedtime Tales Based on the Worst Movies Ever. It collected my illustrated parodies of bad movies featured on movie-riffing cable shows and their successor projects. The series went on to dominate my life and all my creative energy for five years, ultimately spanning four volumes.
Then we hit some problems. The books went out of print, and for the past six years their absence has been gnawing at me.
But!
Right on time for MST3K: The RiffTrax Experiments and the 20th anniversary of RiffTrax, MYSTERY SCIENCE STORYBOOK: THE COMPLETE SERIES is now available as a single hardcover volume.
All four books are here, along with six bonus stories that were either cut from the originals or released online only. In total, that is 52 parody stories across more than 600 pages of full color illustrated chaos.
It includes parodies of Manos: The Hands of Fate, Harry Potter, Twilight, Time Chasers, The Final Sacrifice, Road House, The Room, ICWXP, Batman, Mary Poppins, Little Shop of Horrors, Doctor Who, Titanic, Star Wars, Mothra, Super Mario Bros., The Apple, X-Men, and many, many more.
This is a high end, full color specialty item, so it is a bit pricey. Just a heads up. More than anything, I wanted to make sure that anyone who wants this book can finally have it, and to give proper closure to a project that defined five years of my life.
